For people to listen to you, follow you or be influenced by you, they need to trust that your intentions towards them are positive. They need to trust you.
Our brains are hard wired to trust people we believe are like us, understand us and appreciate our world view, who feel what we feel.
This ‘empathetic connection’ is essential in leadership.
Few people will follow someone they don’t trust. This has made me wonder, have I paid enough attention this week to the emotional landscape of others? What may I have missed and what was the cost?
